Separation Myth - A Louisiana Study

It has been over 60 years since the Brown v. Board of Education ruling and the subsequent integration of most public schools in Louisiana, and now is the time to assess/reassess and examine the state of education and race relations in the state. This project aims to accomplish this task - through an active participation of Louisiana citizens who wish to contribute to the discussion.

Blog posts will encourage participation, as well as share respondents’ responses (when permitted by the respondent) and the writer’s creative response to the topic. After extensive research on this topic, the nexus of this project became a 2019 questionnaire of Louisianans who experienced school integration; but all Louisiana citizens are invited to respond in their individual way. No responses will be changed or altered.

The writer, who herself participated in school integration, hopes the discussion helps bring about clarity on this often misunderstood topic and hopes the project leads to a book length, researched conclusion on the topic. Please consider filling out a questionnaire, or email the writer, or leave your contact information if you would like to be interviewed. Thank you in advance for your participation in this Louisiana study.
